Safer Sex

What is safer sex then and why isn’t it safe sex?

Let’s get one thing straight – there’s no such thing as safe sex unless the closest you get to it is watching Love Island on the telly. Of course choosing not have sex at any time is always an option and is pretty much 100% safe. That’s fine, and although most people want to become sexually active at some stage, not many of us will enjoy sex that we haven’t really chosen to have and are not really ready for. (Have you done our quick quiz to see if you are ready? Click Quick quiz now.)

But if you do choose to have sex you can reduce your chances of becoming pregnant, getting someone pregnant, or coming into contact with STIs by making sure you never take part in any erotic activity that involves unprotected penetration (so that includes oral sex by the way).

Coming into contact with someone else’s semen, vaginal fluids or blood is risky and you can reduce the chances of that happening at the same time as having lots of fun.
