What is it?
LSD is a man made synthetic hallucinogenic substance It comes in liquid, pill and powder form.
It is normally absorbed on to small squares of paper with a distinctive picture on one side. In tablet form these are often small and referred to as microdots.
How is it used?
LSD is normally swallowed.
Effects
- LSD is a powerful hallucinogenic which induces a trip.
- It is long acting - lasting 2-6 hours and fading after about 12 hours.
- Visual effects can include enhanced colours, distorted shapes and sizes and movement of stationary objects.
- Out of body experiences are relatively common
- Physical effects can include distorted hearing and loss of concentration making practical tasks such as driving, dangerous or difficult.
- Effects can take up to 1 hour to come on after taking substance
Risks
- Emotional reactions can vary even with in the same trip due to the length of the effect.
- Unpleasant reactions are more likely if the user is unstable and can include anxiety, depression, dizziness and disorientation.
- It can cause short lived psychotic episodes and paranoia.
- Risk of injury or accidents due disassociating effect. Once on a trip it is not possible to get off.
