Vaccinations

Hepatitis B and C are blood borne viruses common among the drug and alcohol misusing community.

  • They can be contracted relatively easily by the sharing of drug using equipment and/or unprotected sex with an infected person.
  • Hepatitis C is more easily caught than Hepatitis B.
  • A simple vaccination for Hepatitis B is available free to anyone thought to be at an increased risk, as the result of their substance using lifestyle.
  • We also have the ability to test for Hepatitis B and C infection where young people feel they may be at risk.
